Luton lad lines-up title

On the ball learner Dominic Honegan is one of Rathbone’s premier Midlands and South Achievers of the Year.

The 17-year-old’s striking approach to his education has helped him book a place on the winner’s podium at the region’s first-ever awards ceremony at Birmingham Town Hall on Friday, April 17th. And football crazy Dominic puts his pacy progress down to having the confidence of his quick-footed hero, Cristiano Ronaldo.

But while Dominic is in-step with his learning now, he fell foul of not getting on with his high school teachers and paid the ultimate penalty – by being excluded.

This “educational early bath” resulted in Dominic tying-up with Rathbone, where he began to net skills and qualifications on the Youth Choices programme. Dominic also tamed his temper during anger management sessions and became what Rathbone Centre Manager Asma Malik described as, “a very respectful person.”

Determined Dominic will join a quartet of other young achievers at the illustrious bash. Corby company Catermasters and Rathbone Tutor Barbara Taschimowitz will also travel to the West Midlands to be honoured. The Deputy Mayor of Birmingham Councillor Randall Brew will raise a toast our winners and present the awards.

Aside from his educational prowess, Dominic has added to life at the Luton centre by organising a soccer tournament against other training providers. Sadly for the opposition they didn’t know what hit them as Dominic – who has scored so many goals for a local team this season that he’s lost count! – led Rathbone to victory for two years in succession.
